'Walking' a swarm into a hive

‘Walking’ a swarm into a hive

A swarm collected in a skep was emptied onto a white sheet covering a ramp leading to the hive entrance. Over 30-40 minutes the entire swarm walks up the ramp and enters the colony. One of the great sites in beekeeping. This photo was taken in May 2008 … these days I usually just drop the swarm into a modified Paynes poly nuc.
