Two queen hives

If you do a search for 'two queen hives' in the beekeeping literature, you'll find several examples in the more esoteric peripheries of our hobby obsession. They make the occasional appearance in an association newsletter, or a winter talk. However, I've yet to meet a beekeeper who routinely, or even occasionally, runs two queen hives.
Of course, these 'two queen hives' are usually nothing of the sort.
They're two, one-queen colonies, with shared supers. There's often some sort of tunnel system, and ample use of queen excluders to keep the queens apart.
So, you don't see anything like this.
